Train Up a Child

Why do we prevent children from doing chores and working hard these days???

When children leave the home, and they become adults, they have to find a means to help them survive. Employment comes their way, but because they were never taught to work hard, they struggle to keep a job, nevermind struggle to work diligently. They become useless to society.

God's Word says: "Train up a child in the way he should go. And when he is older, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 6:22).

If we train our children at a young age to take care of themselves, to work with their hands and to do an excellent job at everything they do, they will become valuable assets to the world out there.

God taught the Israelites to work hard, smart and diligently. When they obeyed God's rules for their lives, nations would gather around and watch how successful these Israelite businesses would become. And when they were asked, "Show us how your business flourishes," the Israelites were to point to God as their source of strength and guidance.

Thus, through the diligent work of the Israelites, God was glorified. Souls were turned to the Lord. Hearts were dedicated to Him.

Sometimes we think we need to only do Bible studies with people in order to be a missionary. But you can point others to Jesus through the way that you handle your business! People will be drawn to your success, and then us that to lead them to the Lord.

Challenge: Do not shy away from teaching children, from a young age, how to work diligently in whichever task their hands find to do. Teach children that work comes from the Lord and is good for the soul. Teach them that God approves and rewards work done with excellence.

The Bible says:

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people. Remember that the Lord will give you as a reward what he has kept for his people. For Christ is the real Master you serve." (Colossians 3:23‭-‬24).
