Take Heart—Jesus Has Overcome

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

We often try so hard to keep everything in order—to avoid chaos, pain, and loss. Yet the reality is that we live in a sinful, broken world. Because of this, trouble will always find its way into our lives. The sooner we accept that truth, the easier it becomes to walk through life without losing our peace or sanity.

Jesus didn’t make this statement casually. When He said, “You will have trouble,” He was making a promise—a certainty. It’s not a maybe or a possibility. It’s a fact of life. Fighting against that inevitability will only drain us.

But here’s the beautiful part: Jesus follows that sobering truth with a glorious promise—He has overcome the world! Praise God for that!

We don’t need to live in fear. Our peace doesn’t come from how well we can control our circumstances or prevent bad things from happening. Our peace comes from knowing that Jesus has already conquered evil, and He can conquer the chaos within our own lives too—if we allow Him to.

Application

Lean on Jesus, not on your own strength to keep your “mini-world” in order. When chaos swirls around you, seek His presence—

  • Kneel down and pray.

  • Open His Word and let it speak peace to your heart.

  • Step outside, take a deep breath, listen to the birds, and look up at the sky.

In every moment, He is near.
Find peace in Jesus.
Find hope in Him.
He can make all things new.
