You Are Majestic

As I watch the sunrise this morning, I am reminded of how majestic You are, Lord. Full of glory that shines so bright and strong, Your presence overwhelms even the most steadfast heart. Just as the sun’s rays are too powerful for our eyes to stare at directly, so is Your glory too radiant for us to behold with our human gaze. Science reminds us that looking directly at the sun can blind us—yet, in Your presence, it is a different kind of light that opens rather than blinds.

I think of Moses’ encounter with You on Mount Sinai. You told him, “No man can see me and live” (Exodus 33:20), yet You graciously allowed him a glimpse of Your glory. When You passed before him, he not only saw a fragment of Your majesty, but Your radiance shone upon his face, so that all who saw him recognized that he had been in Your holy presence (Exodus 34:29-30).

It is like being touched by the sun: the warmth leaves a mark, a glow that silently tells others you have been exposed to it. Too much sun can harm the body, but basking in Your presence nourishes the soul. Spending time with You, whether through prayer, song, meditation, or pondering Scripture, fills our spirits and transforms us gradually into Your likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18).

We don’t need to bury ourselves constantly in books to know You—though the Word is precious—but to remain in a continuous state of communion with You. The more we dwell on Your goodness, the more Your Spirit works in us, and the more we reflect Your majesty in our daily lives.

Thank You, Lord, for the morning sun and the lessons I can learn from it about You. May I carry the light of Your glory in my life, so that others might see glimpses of You through me.
